Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first footballer to enter billionaire club after massive Al-Nassr deal: Report
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the first footballer to join the billionaire club, according to Bloomberg.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the world’s richest individuals, has listed the 40-year-old Portuguese icon with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion (₹12,352 crore) — accumulated through his career earnings, investments, and brand endorsements.
Between 2002 and 2023, Ronaldo earned over $550 million (₹4,870 crore) in salaries while playing for elite clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. His long-term Nike deal, worth around $18 million (₹159 crore) annually, along with endorsements from Armani and Castrol, added another $175 million (₹1,554 crore) to his wealth.
Ronaldo’s 2023 move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr proved to be a financial windfall, bringing him a tax-free annual package of $200 million (₹17,760 crore), including a $30 million (₹2,664 crore) signing bonus. His subsequent two-year contract extension, reportedly worth over $400 million (₹35,520 crore), will keep him at the club until he turns 42.
His longtime rival Lionel Messi has earned more than $600 million (₹53,280 crore) in pre-tax salary during his career. Since 2023, Messi’s annual guaranteed pay at Inter Miami is $20 million (₹1,776 crore) — about one-tenth of Ronaldo’s current income. However, with an ownership stake in Inter Miami set to vest upon retirement, Messi could soon close the financial gap with Ronaldo.
