CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Leaves US Ahead of Jantar Mantar Protest, Urges Supporters to Remain Peaceful

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday said he had departed from the United States and was en route to India ahead of the party’s planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak controversy.

In a post on X, Dipke said he had “left his faith in the hands of the Constitution,” as preparations continued for the June 6 demonstration demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The announcement came a day after the CJP appealed to supporters not to gather at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to welcome Dipke upon his arrival.

Earlier, the Boston-educated activist had called on supporters to assemble at the airport on the day of the protest. However, the party later withdrew the appeal, citing an unexpectedly large response from supporters.

“The overwhelming response from those who want the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan to our call to join us at Delhi Airport was beyond our imagination,” the party said in a statement posted on social media.

Appeal for Peaceful Conduct

The CJP has urged supporters to maintain discipline and ensure that all activities remain peaceful and within the bounds of the law.

Calling for restraint, Dipke said the movement should not provide critics with an opportunity to undermine its objectives.

“We are law-abiding citizens,” he said, adding that opponents were looking for a chance to “dismiss” or “defame” the campaign and that supporters should avoid any actions that could distract from its message.

Permission for Protest Still Pending

The developments come amid uncertainty over police permission for the planned demonstration.

CJP spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya said the party’s decision to avoid a large airport gathering was part of its broader strategy and that Dipke would personally seek permission from authorities after arriving in Delhi.

“People’s emotions are driving the protest, and currently they are attached with Abhijeet. That’s why we have taken a call that Abhijeet will seek permission from the police in person on June 6,” Dahiya said.

He added that the party remains optimistic about securing the necessary clearance to hold what it describes as a peaceful protest.

The CJP has previously stated that Dipke would meet authorities directly upon his arrival to seek approval for the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
