Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan met Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday to congratulate him on the National Democratic Alliance’s sweeping victory in the assembly elections.

Paswan later posted on X, saying he had extended his “hearty congratulations and best wishes” to Nitish Kumar for the NDA’s “resounding majority.” The alliance won 202 seats, while Paswan’s LJP(RV) emerged as the fourth-largest party in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Paswan said Nitish Kumar appreciated the contribution of every NDA partner. He also accused the opposition of “misleading” the public by creating a false narrative of discord between JD(U) and LJP(RV).

“In Alauli, where I vote, I supported the JD(U) candidate. This shows those claims were misleading,” he said, according to ANI.

The meeting comes amid speculation over whether Nitish Kumar will continue as chief minister. Paswan, when earlier asked whether he would be in the running, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had entrusted him with responsibilities at the Centre. He ruled out taking the deputy CM post but said someone from his party could assume the role if the alliance wished.

Nitish Kumar, who first became chief minister in 2000, has led Bihar under various coalitions, frequently switching between the BJP and RJD over the years.

Meanwhile, Paswan’s LJP(RV) made a strong comeback with victories in 19 seats.
