Chirag Paswan Alleges Bomb Plot Against Him, Calls It a Political Conspiracy

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday alleged a “conspiracy” to assassinate him using a bomb, claiming his rising political influence has made him a target.

Speaking at a rally in Bihar’s Munger district, where assembly elections are due later this year, Paswan declared, “They want to blow me up with a bomb,” referring to unnamed political rivals.

The sensational claim follows a recent police complaint filed by the party, alleging a death threat made against Paswan on social media. Without naming anyone, Paswan took veiled digs at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav and his estranged uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, accusing them of being unnerved by his “Bihar First, Bihari First” campaign.

“Those rooted in caste politics, who once pushed Bihar into poverty and backwardness, are now scared of my vision for the state,” said Paswan, who is the MP from Hajipur. “They failed to break me, and now they’ve hatched a new plot.”

Calling himself a “sher ka beta” (tiger’s cub), the Union Minister asserted, “I don’t bend. I cannot be scared.”

Party Response and Police Complaint

Reacting to Paswan’s statement, a senior LJP (Ram Vilas) leader told PTI, on condition of anonymity, that the minister may have been referencing the recent FIR filed over a social media death threat. “It may have been rhetorical, drawing from the recent complaint against a troll,” the leader said.

The FIR, lodged by LJP (RV) chief spokesperson Rajesh Kumar Bhatt at Patna’s cyber police station on July 11, accuses an Instagram user of threatening to bomb Chirag Paswan. While the complaint did not name any political party or individual, the LJP (RV) claimed on social media that the user was an RJD supporter.

Background

The episode comes amid heightened political activity in Bihar as parties prepare for the upcoming state elections. Chirag Paswan has sharpened his rhetoric against both the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance and rival opposition camps, positioning himself as a disruptive force in state politics.

The police are currently investigating the threat, but no arrests have been made so far.
