CEAT Cricket Awards: Rohit Sharma Honoured for Champions Trophy Triumph; Samson, Iyer Among Top Winners — Full List
The 27th edition of the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) Awards was held in Mumbai on Tuesday, celebrating cricketing excellence across formats and nations. Former India captain Rohit Sharma stole the spotlight — not just with his presence but also by receiving a special memento for leading India to a Champions Trophy triumph earlier this year.
The win marked India’s second consecutive ICC title under Rohit’s captaincy, following the T20 World Cup victory in Barbados in June 2024. The award was presented by cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, who lauded Rohit’s leadership and consistency at the international level.
The event also marked Rohit’s first public appearance since being removed as India’s ODI captain, a decision announced last week by chief selector Ajit Agarkar. The BCCI has appointed Shubman Gill as the new ODI skipper, with his first assignment set to be the three-match series in Australia, beginning October 19. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli have been named in the squad, marking their return to international cricket after the Champions Trophy win in March.
Among other honourees, Sanju Samson was named Men’s T20I Batter of the Year, edging past Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma, while Varun Chakravarthy bagged the T20I Bowler of the Year award. In the women’s category, India swept all honours, with Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma winning Batter and Bowler of the Year, respectively. Both were absent due to their participation in the Women’s World Cup 2025 currently underway at home.
