Carlos Alcaraz left shattered after Miami Open upset, says “I want to go home, I can’t take it anymore”

Carlos Alcaraz endured another early exit at the Miami Open, suffering a shock third-round defeat to Sebastian Korda on Sunday.

A year after his surprise loss to David Goffin at the same event, the Spaniard was again upset, with Korda securing a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 victory in a gripping three-set clash.

Widely known for his resilience, Alcaraz looked unusually fragile at Hard Rock Stadium, even appearing to mentally check out at one stage. After dropping the first set and falling behind early in the second, the reigning Australian Open champion showed visible frustration, venting toward his box.

“I can’t take it anymore. I’m going home… I can’t take it anymore,” he was heard saying during a rare moment of despair.

To his credit, Alcaraz mounted a brief comeback, reeling off five straight games in the second set after Korda had served for the match. But the usual spark in his game was missing.

Korda, however, regrouped impressively, holding his nerve in the decider to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament. Ranked No. 36, he became the lowest-ranked player to beat Alcaraz since Goffin’s win here last year — underlining the Spaniard’s struggles in Miami.

Reflecting on the loss, Alcaraz admitted he fell short in key moments. “It was a tough match. He was incredible today. There were a lot of tight moments I didn’t make the most of, and he was better in those situations,” he said.

The defeat leaves Alcaraz at 17-2 for the season, following his recent semifinal loss to Daniil Medvedev at Indian Wells.
