The Calcutta High Court has directed Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami to pay a total of ₹4 lakh per month in maintenance to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and their daughter. The order was passed on July 1 by Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, following Jahan’s appeal against a lower court’s earlier ruling.

As per the court’s directive, Shami will have to pay:

  • ₹1.5 lakh/month to Hasin Jahan

  • ₹2.5 lakh/month for their daughter’s upkeep

The bench termed the amount “just, fair and reasonable” to ensure financial stability for both mother and child. The court also clarified that Shami is free to voluntarily contribute additional funds towards his daughter’s educational or other needs.

Jahan had initially approached the court seeking ₹7 lakh/month for herself and ₹3 lakh/month for her daughter. Previously, a district court had directed Shami to pay a much lower sum of ₹50,000 to Jahan and ₹80,000 to their daughter, a ruling she challenged in the high court.

Shami and Jahan were married in 2014 and have a daughter born in 2015. Their relationship turned turbulent in 2018 when Jahan publicly accused Shami of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and even match-fixing—claiming he received money from a Pakistani woman and had cut off financial support.

The BCCI had briefly withheld Shami’s central contract during the investigation but later cleared him of all match-fixing charges.

Hasin Jahan, a former model and cheerleader with the Kolkata Knight Riders, has remained vocal about her legal battle with Shami, while the pacer has mostly kept his personal life out of the spotlight.
