Bypoll Results: Congress Leads in Nilambur, AAP Ahead in Two Seats, BJP, TMC Also Lead
Counting is underway in the high-stakes assembly by-elections across five constituencies — Nilambur (Kerala), Ludhiana West (Punjab), Kaliganj (West Bengal), Visavadar and Kadi (both in Gujarat) — with early trends showing a mixed bag for major political parties.
Congress Leads in Nilambur
Congress candidate Aryadan Shoukath is leading by over 10,000 votes against CPI(M)’s M Swaraj. The bypoll in Nilambur was triggered by the resignation of LDF-backed independent MLA P V Anvar, who later joined the Trinamool Congress. The contest has evolved into a prestige battle as the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government nears the end of its second term.
AAP Leads in Visavadar and Ludhiana West
-
In Visavadar (Gujarat), former AAP state president Italia Gopal is leading with a margin of over 7,200 votes against BJP’s Kirit Patel. Congress is trailing in third.
-
In Ludhiana West, AAP’s Sanjeev Arora is ahead by over 3,200 votes against Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu. The bypoll follows the death of sitting MLA Gurpreet Gogi.
BJP Leads in Kadi
BJP’s Rajendra Chavda is leading the Kadi seat with a massive margin of over 27,000 votes against Congress’ Ramesh Chavda. The election was held after the death of sitting MLA Karsanbhai Solanki.
TMC Ahead in Kaliganj
Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed has taken a strong lead in Kaliganj (West Bengal), ahead of Congress’ Kabil Uddin Shaikh by 19,164 votes.
Final results are awaited, but early trends suggest a diverse outcome across states with regional factors shaping the electoral landscape.
