British Airways Launches ‘Student Travel Assistance’ for Indian Students to UK
British Airways has introduced a ‘Student Travel Assistance’ programme for students flying from five Indian airports to London Heathrow this summer. Running from August 29 to the end of October 2025, the service is available at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai airports.
The initiative offers a dedicated check-in desk, wayfinding support at the airport, and transfer guidance at Heathrow Terminal 5, aimed at making students’ first overseas journeys smoother and less stressful. “We hope this makes them feel at ease from the moment they arrive to when they land in their destination,” said Helen O’Connor, British Airways’ Regional General Manager for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific Airport.
The Student Assistance Helpdesk is voluntary and open to all British Airways student passengers. Students can access it by identifying themselves at the check-in counter, with signage guiding them to the desk.
Earlier this year, the airline also introduced the ‘Meet and Assist’ service, offering in-person support in local Indian languages for passengers needing extra help navigating airports.
Indian student mobility abroad has been steadily growing. As of January 2024, more than 1.33 million Indian students were pursuing higher education overseas, with the UK remaining a top destination due to its academic reputation and cultural ties. British Airways operates 56 flights per week from the five Indian airports to London.
