At least eight private schools in Gurugram received bomb threat emails early Wednesday morning, prompting extensive security checks by police and emergency teams.

The emails were received around 7.08 am, following which police squads, along with sniffer dogs, were deployed to search the campuses. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was also called in to assist.

Schools that received the threats included Kunskapsskolan School in DLF Phase 1, Lancer’s School in Sector 53, Pathways World School in Badshahpur, and Heritage Xperiential Learning School in Sector 64, among others.

In a statement, the district administration said security protocols were immediately activated and the situation was being closely monitored.

One of the affected schools informed parents that the email appeared to be a hoax but assured them that student safety would not be compromised. Police were informed promptly, and teams were deployed for verification.

As the search operation was time-consuming, bus services were suspended and students who had arrived were sent back. Parents were asked to collect their children from bus stops or school premises, while others were advised not to send students to school.

A school official said standard safety procedures were followed and students were kept calm under supervision during the checks. “There was no panic on campus,” the official said.

Police said no suspicious objects were found during the initial searches. “All precautionary measures are being taken, and the premises are being thoroughly checked as per protocol,” an officer said.

Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said the cybercrime unit was investigating the source of the emails. “Our team is tracing the sender and analysing the origin of the messages. Strict legal action will be taken against those responsible,” he said.

Authorities urged parents and residents not to panic, saying the situation was under control and adequate security arrangements were in place.

Citing cold weather and the need to keep students indoors until screening was completed, some schools declared a holiday for the day.
