Bodybuilder and Actor Varinder Singh Ghuman Dies of Heart Attack at 42
Popular bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman has died of a heart attack at the age of 42. The news was confirmed on Thursday evening by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Member of Parliament, who shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter).
Ghuman, who appeared alongside Salman Khan in Tiger 3 (2023), was known for his towering physique and achievements in bodybuilding.
In a post written in Punjabi, Randhawa expressed his grief:
“Hearing the news of the sudden demise of Punjab’s famous bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman ji has left my heart deeply saddened. Through his hard work, discipline, and talent, he brought pride to Punjab on the global stage. May Waheguru ji bless his soul and give strength to his family to bear this loss.”
Former Indian hockey captain Parjat Singh also mourned Ghuman’s passing, writing,
“It’s deeply painful to learn that famed body-builder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman ji passed away from a heart attack. He was a devoted vegetarian and built his body with discipline and grace. May Waheguru grant his soul eternal peace.”
According to a report by The Tribune, Ghuman died while undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar, where doctors confirmed that he passed away around 5:30 p.m. on October 10.
Ghuman, a Mr. India 2009 winner and Mr. Asia runner-up, was celebrated as one of India’s leading professional bodybuilders. He made his Punjabi film debut with Kabaddi Once More (2012) and went on to feature in Bollywood films such as Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014) and Marjaavaan (2019).
