At least one person was killed and several others wounded in a blast during a cricket match in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, Dawn reported.

The explosion struck Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district and was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), according to District Police Officer Waqas Rafique.

Authorities confirmed that the blast killed one man and injured several others, including children. The wounded were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials said suspected militants also attempted to attack a local police station, but the strike missed its target. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
