Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin Named BJP National Working President, Thanks PM Modi and Party Leadership
Bihar minister and senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda after being appointed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s new National Working President.
A fifth-term MLA and a minister in the Bihar cabinet, Nabin was previously the BJP’s in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Speaking to reporters outside his Patna residence, he said he would work to carry forward Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and vision.
Nabin now faces the responsibility of steering the party as it prepares for crucial assembly elections in states such as West Bengal, Assam and Tamil Nadu, unless a new full-time national president is announced before the polls.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the central leadership, the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the Defence Minister and everyone in the central leadership for giving me this opportunity. I have the Prime Minister’s blessings, and I will further advance the guidance and leadership he has provided,” Nabin told ANI.
Calling the appointment a recognition of grassroots effort, he added, “It’s the hard work of the party workers. When you work as a dedicated worker, senior leaders always take note of it. I will continue to work with them.”
The BJP said Nabin’s appointment as National Working President takes effect immediately. He succeeds Union Minister JP Nadda, who has served as BJP National President since January 2020.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, an NDA ally, congratulated the 45-year-old leader on his new role. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Kumar described Nabin as a dedicated and disciplined politician who would strengthen the party in his new responsibility.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the appointment was a moment of pride for the BJP. “As an ordinary worker from Bihar, Nabin has worked in the organisation with consistent dedication,” he said.
Nabin was felicitated by Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with other senior leaders following the announcement.
At 45, Nitin Nabin is the youngest BJP president ever. He is also the first BJP national president from Bihar and from eastern India. Over the years, he has served as minister for the Road Construction Department, Urban Development and Housing, and the Law Department in the Bihar government.
