Bihar: Man Allegedly Murdered by Wife After Discovering Her Affair with Children’s Tutor

A 30-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife in Bihar’s Samastipur district after reportedly uncovering her extramarital affair with their children’s tuition teacher. The incident took place early Saturday morning in Laguniya Raghukanth village under the jurisdiction of Mufassil police station.

The deceased, identified as Sonu Kumar, son of Tuntun Jha, was found lying in a pool of blood inside his home. Following a tip-off, police reached the scene and registered a case of murder. Sonu’s wife, Smita Jha, has been taken into custody for questioning based on initial suspicions, according to a report by Live Hindustan.

Family Alleges Affair and Motive for Murder

Sonu’s father alleged that his son’s murder was linked to growing tensions in his marriage. Sonu had married Smita Jha six years ago, and the couple had two children. According to the family, marital disputes had become frequent and severe enough to warrant intervention by the local panchayat, after which a written agreement was made in an attempt at reconciliation.

However, problems reportedly persisted—especially after Smita allegedly began an affair with Hariom Kumar, a local tutor who used to teach the couple’s children.

“One day, my son caught his wife and the tutor in a compromising position,” Tuntun Jha told the police. Following the confrontation, the tutor stopped coming to the house but later resumed teaching the children of Sonu’s elder brother, which, according to the family, reignited tension between Sonu and Smita.

Victim Was Last Seen at Midnight

Tuntun Jha stated that his son returned home around midnight on Friday after driving his auto-rickshaw. He himself had gone to sleep earlier. The next morning, he claimed, he discovered Sonu’s body soaked in blood, with Smita sitting silently in a corner of the room.

He also alleged that there were strangulation marks on Sonu’s neck and accused Smita of murdering her husband with the help of two or three accomplices.

Police Investigation Underway

Smita Jha has been detained for interrogation. Police said they are verifying the family’s statements and awaiting postmortem results from Sadar Hospital to confirm the exact cause of death.

The case has sparked shock in the local community, and police say further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation and forensic findings.
