‘Bidi-Bihar’ Row: PM Modi Accuses Congress-RJD of Insulting State
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the Congress and RJD’s Mahagathbandhan over the “bidi-Bihar” controversy, calling it an insult to the state and its people.
Addressing a rally in Purnea, the PM referred to a now-deleted post by the Kerala unit of the Congress, which had likened Bihar to a bidi in a jibe linked to GST rationalisation.
“Whenever Bihar moves forward, these people get busy insulting Bihar. You must have seen that RJD’s ally, the Congress Party, is comparing Bihar to a bidi on social media. These people hate Bihar so much,” Modi said.
He accused the opposition of damaging Bihar’s reputation through “scams and corruption” and vowed that the state would give a befitting reply in the upcoming elections.
The Bihar assembly polls are scheduled for October-November.
