Benchmarks at day’s high; Nifty tops 25,300; Realty index zooms 3%; Persistent 7%
Indian stock markets were trading higher on Wednesday, lifted by global optimism and a decline in crude oil prices. The BSE Sensex index rose 334 points or 0.41 per cent to quote at 82,364, while the Nifty index started trade at 25,242, up 96 points or 0.38 per cent.
Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, L&T, Power Grid, BEL, Bharti Airtel, Trent, and Asian Paints were the top Sensex gainers today, edging up to 1.2 per cent higher.
On the downside, Tech M, Axis Bank, Infosys, and Titan Company were the only stock losers, down up to 1.2 per cent.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index added 0.72 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index advanced 0.30 per cent. Volatility gauge, India VIX, cooled off around 4 per cent.
Among sectors, the Nifty IT, and Financial Services indices were up 0.6 per cent each, followed by the Nifty PSU Bank, and the Nifty Realty index.
Q2 results today
Axis Bank, Indian Railway Finance Corporation, HDFC Life Insurance Company, HDFC Asset Management Company, HDB Financial Services, Angel One, Tata Communications, and Delta Corp are among the companies set to announce their Q2FY26 results today.
