After a standout IPL debut and a strong showing on India’s U-19 tour of England, 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has joined a special training program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

According to MyKhel, the BCCI-designed regimen will sharpen both his technical skills and match awareness. His childhood coach, Manish Ojha, said the board is grooming the youngster as part of a long-term plan to prepare replacements for senior stars nearing retirement.

The move comes amid speculation over the futures of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, though a BCCI official told PTI the focus remains on the Asia Cup and the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Vaibhav’s NCA stint will last a week before he rejoins the India U-19 camp. Ojha said the next challenge is to improve the teenager’s consistency in longer formats, matching the impact he has already shown in T20s and one-day cricket.
