BCCI Lodges Complaint Against Pakistan’s Rauf and Farhan for Provocative Asia Cup Gestures
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has formally lodged a complaint against Pakistan cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for “provocative and indecent behaviour” during their Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against India, seeking strict action from match referee Andy Pycroft. Video evidence supporting the complaint was also submitted.
Rauf responded to repeated “Kohli, Kohli” chants from the crowd by mimicking a fighter jet and displaying “6-0,” referencing false claims about Indian Air Force losses during Operation Sindoor. Farhan, meanwhile, celebrated a half-century with a gun-firing gesture. Rauf also clashed with Indian batters Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill during their partnership.
A BCCI official said the gestures “are against the spirit of the game” and insisted they appeared intentional. Pakistan, however, declined to comment. Ahead of their game against Bangladesh, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi said, “Our job is to play cricket; people can think what they want. We are here to win the Asia Cup.”
