Australia: Deadly Shooting in Porepunkah, Two Police Officers Killed

At least two police officers were killed and another injured in a shooting in the small town of Porepunkah, Victoria, on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The town, located around 300 km east of Melbourne, has a population of roughly 1,000.

The Guardian reported that officers were attempting to serve a warrant at a property when the shooting occurred. Police have described the situation as “active” and urged residents to avoid the area.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said his thoughts were with the officers and acknowledged “the work police do, each and every day.”
