At Least 28 Dead, Dozens Missing After Tourist Boat Capsizes in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay

At least 28 people have died and more than a dozen are still missing after a tourist boat carrying 53 passengers capsized on Saturday in Vietnam’s famed Ha Long Bay, according to state media.

The Wonder Sea tourist vessel overturned on the afternoon of July 19. Vietnamese Border Guards and navy personnel launched an immediate rescue operation, saving 11 people and recovering 28 bodies, VNExpress reported.

Search and rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities race against time to locate the remaining missing passengers.
