Amit Shah in Bihar: NDA allies are united like the Pandavas in battle
With the first phase of the high-stakes Bihar assembly election days away, the NDA and INDIA blocs escalated their campaign offensive on Saturday, setting up a sharply polarised contest over governance, jobs, and “jungle raj” fears.
Amit Shah Targets “Mahathugbandhan”, Projects NDA as ‘Pandava’ Unity
Addressing virtual rallies in Samastipur and Gopalganj, Union home minister Amit Shah branded the opposition alliance a “Mahathugbandhan” mired in infighting, contrasting it with the NDA’s “Pandava-like” cohesion under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Shah urged voters to reject the opposition’s “15 years of jungle raj,” citing 20 years of development under NDA rule. He promised completion of the ₹85 crore Punaura Dham project, reopening of all defunct sugar mills, aid for Jeevika women’s groups, and higher farmer income support.
Attacking the INDIA bloc, he said Rahul Gandhi was “shielding infiltrators” and defended the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.
Priyanka Gandhi Calls NDA Manifesto ‘Fake Propaganda’
Campaigning in Begusarai, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the NDA of “a decade-long betrayal” on employment, women’s empowerment and development. Calling the NDA’s job promises “unrealistic”, she asked how the alliance could deliver 1.5 crore jobs when past commitments fell short.
Speaking to a rain-soaked crowd, she said Bihar had been pushed “into poverty, unemployment and migration,” urging voters not to fall for “hollow promises” from Modi and Nitish.
Tejashwi Yadav Promises One Job Per Household in 20 Months
RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate, campaigned across Siwan and Raghopur, vowing a government job for every household within 20 months if elected.
He accused the NDA of presiding over a “collapse of law and order,” citing the recent murder of opposition leader Dularchand Yadav in Mokama. “Where is the Election Commission?” he asked, alleging a double standard on enforcement.
Yadav campaigned alongside sisters Ragini and Rohini to dispel rumours of family rifts and appealed for caste-unity against “corruption and crime.”
Akhilesh Yadav: ‘This Election Is Jobs vs BJP’
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, campaigning in Darbhanga, called Nitish Kumar a “poll groom who knows he won’t be garlanded again,” accusing the BJP of “using people and then ruining them.” He declared, “This time the BJP will migrate out of Bihar.”
NDA Counters ‘Jungle Raj’ Charge With Development Push
BJP president JP Nadda, LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan and Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh amplified Shah’s messaging, warning of a return to RJD-era lawlessness. Paswan pitched a “global skills hub” plan, while Singh urged voters not to “let jungle raj return.”
What Lies Ahead
Voting in the 243-seat assembly will take place on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. With helicopters grounded by rain, leaders have shifted to virtual outreach, but the central pitch remains unchanged: jobs, security, women’s empowerment and Bihar’s development trajectory.
