Amarnath Yatra 2025: Kashmir Police Urges Pilgrims to Use Designated Convoys Amid Heightened Security

As the 38-day Amarnath Yatra began on Thursday, Kashmir Police issued a fresh advisory urging devotees to travel only in designated convoys amid heightened security concerns following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people.

In a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police stated:

“#Advisory for Yatris of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025: All pilgrims are advised to travel only in designated convoys originating from Bhagwati Nagar, Baltal, and Nunwan Base Camps.”

The advisory also urged pilgrims to “arrive reasonably prior to their scheduled yatra day” to avoid congestion and ensure smooth management.

Robust Medical and Security Arrangements in Place

Amid fears triggered by the recent terror strike, authorities have ramped up healthcare and emergency preparedness along the pilgrimage route. In Ramban district, 17 medical camps have been set up at key langar sites and lodgement centres.

Ramban Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kamal Zadoo told ANI:

“Mini hospitals with ECG units, cardiac monitors, and indoor beds have been established at Yatri Niwas Chanderkot and Lambhar Ground. Ambulances and backup vehicles are also stationed for emergency response.”

Yatra Routes and Schedule

This year’s Amarnath Yatra will run until August 9, with pilgrims trekking to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine via two routes:

  • The 48-km traditional route from Pahalgam in Anantnag

  • The 14-km shorter but steeper route from Baltal in Ganderbal

The first batch of yatris departed from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2.

With security at its tightest in years and a focus on safety, authorities are urging pilgrims to strictly adhere to guidelines and cooperate with officials throughout the pilgrimage.
