Aishwarya Rai Urges Aspiring Actors to Stay Authentic in ‘Manufactured’ World

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has shared advice for aspiring actors entering the film industry, encouraging them to stay true to themselves and avoid getting caught up in a world she described as increasingly “manufactured.”

Speaking to Brut India during her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya reflected on the artistic journey and said that creativity remains a process of constant learning and self-discovery.

She said every artiste continues to evolve through experiences and that individual journeys shape people differently. According to Aishwarya, there is no universal formula for success because what works for one person may not work for another.

Encouraging young actors to trust themselves, she said people should discover their passions and remain honest in the choices they make.

“You have to be your best friend because you have to stand by yourself,” she said, while cautioning against trying to “manufacture” experiences or personalities in today’s environment.

Aishwarya also stressed the importance of truly experiencing life and allowing those experiences to influence one’s art. She urged aspiring performers to be “brutally honest” with themselves and to remain lifelong learners.

The actor further advised young talents to stay “students of life” and fully embrace their personal journeys, saying that the rest would eventually fall into place.

This year marks Aishwarya’s 24th appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, reinforcing her long association with the event. Before her appearance, fans had questioned promotional material by L’Oréal Paris after posters featured personalities including Alia Bhatt, Viola Davis, Eva Longoria and Helen Mirren, while Aishwarya was absent.

Aishwarya, who has been associated with the beauty brand since 2003, later made her much-awaited Cannes appearance. Her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan also marked a notable moment by making her Cannes red-carpet debut this year.
