After Dhurandhar and Animal, Will Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol Reunite for Humraaz 2? Here’s What We Know So Far

In recent years, Hindi cinema has witnessed a striking resurgence of seasoned actors who have reinvented themselves through bold, unconventional roles. Two of the most notable examples are Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, whose recent performances have not only won critical acclaim but also sparked massive audience buzz.

Bobby Deol stunned viewers with his menacing, dialogue-less turn in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023). Despite limited screen time compared to lead star Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby’s silent intensity turned him into an overnight sensation, redefining his career trajectory. Akshaye Khanna, meanwhile, captivated audiences with his commanding presence as Rehman Dakait in Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar, emerging as one of the most talked-about performers on social media and film forums alike.

With both actors enjoying renewed stardom, fans have been speculating about the possibility of them sharing screen space again — particularly in a sequel to their 2002 thriller Humraaz, which also starred Ameesha Patel.

Now, producer Ratan Jain, who backed the original Humraaz, has addressed these speculations. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama in a recent interview, Jain said he is open to making Humraaz 2, but only if the right script comes along.

“I can make Humraaz 2 if I get the right script for these two actors. We need to have scripts where they fit the part and have age-appropriate roles,” Jain said.

Praising both actors, the filmmaker added, “Bobby is a pleasure to work with and so is Akshaye. As for Akshaye, let him get settled for some time after this humongous success that he has seen. I’ll try to meet him. We are very good friends. He deserves better films.”

Jain also highlighted Akshaye Khanna’s well-known selectiveness when it comes to choosing projects. “Akshaye has always been like this — very selective in his films. Money is secondary to him. If he’s not happy with the script, he’ll reject the film,” he noted.

On the work front, Akshaye Khanna is currently gearing up for his upcoming film Mahakali. Fans are also eagerly awaiting his return as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar 2, which is slated for release on March 19. Bobby Deol, meanwhile, is set to appear in Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.

While Humraaz 2 is far from confirmed, Ratan Jain’s comments have certainly reignited excitement among fans eager to see Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna reunite on the big screen — this time, in roles that reflect their evolved personas and renewed star power.
