Actor Govinda Hospitalised in Mumbai After Losing Consciousness, Condition Stable
Actor Govinda was rushed to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday after he reportedly lost consciousness, news agency PTI reported.
According to India Today, Govinda’s lawyer Lalit Bindal said the actor had been feeling uneasy before being taken to the hospital’s emergency department. “He was feeling disoriented. All tests are done, and we are now awaiting reports and the neuro consultation’s opinion. He is stable now,” Bindal said.
Govinda’s hospitalisation comes a day after he visited veteran actor Dharmendra, who is recovering at Breach Candy Hospital. A video from Tuesday showed Govinda leaving the hospital with a visibly worried expression.
Second Hospitalisation in a Year
This marks the second time in a year that the 60-year-old actor has been hospitalised. In October last year, Govinda suffered a bullet injury to his knee after his licensed revolver accidentally discharged while he was preparing to leave for Kolkata. He was admitted to a Mumbai hospital and discharged three days later.
Recalling the incident at the time, Govinda told reporters, “It was about 5 in the morning. I was about to leave for a show in Kolkata. The gun fell and went off. I was shocked when I saw a fountain of blood. Then I made a video, spoke to the doctor, and got admitted.”
A Storied Career
One of Bollywood’s most beloved stars, Govinda rose to fame in the late 1980s and 1990s with hits such as Ilzaam (1986), Love 86 (1986), and Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna (1994). His collaborations with director David Dhawan — including Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, and Partner — cemented his status as a comedy icon.
Known for his impeccable comic timing, dance moves, and vibrant screen presence, Govinda has also delivered powerful performances in dramatic roles over his three-decade career. His last film, Rangeela Raja, released in 2019.
