The President of India has approved the conferment of 131 Padma awards for 2026, recognising outstanding contributions in diverse fields including art, social work, public affairs, medicine, science, and education.
The awards include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honours, making them the country’s highest civilian recognitions after the Bharat Ratna, which is not awarded every year.
Announced on the eve of Republic Day 2026, the list features 19 women, 16 posthumous awardees, and six recipients from the foreigner, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories.
The honours will be formally presented by the President at ceremonial functions at Rashtrapati Bhawan, usually held in March or April.

Padma Shri Honourees
A total of 113 individuals have received the Padma Shri for distinguished service in their respective fields. The recipients represent a wide range of professions, including science and engineering, sports, archaeology, agriculture, literature, broadcasting, and social service.
Among them are Harmanpreet Kaur Bhullar (Sports), Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar (Education), Rohit Sharma (Sports), Savita Punia (Sports), and Lars-Christian Koch (Art, Germany), along with several posthumous awardees.
