AAP Accuses BJP Leaders of ‘Vote Theft’, Says They Voted in Both Delhi and Bihar Elections
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of “vote theft,” alleging that they cast votes in both the Delhi and Bihar Assembly elections this year despite the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive to eliminate duplicate voter registrations.
Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha, Delhi BJP Purvanchal Morcha president Santosh Ojha, and party functionary Nagendra Kumar each voted twice.
“The Election Commission had assured that after the SIR drive, no voter would remain registered in two states. Then how did these BJP leaders manage to vote again in Bihar?” Bharadwaj asked. “If this can happen with senior BJP functionaries, imagine the scale of vote theft taking place across the country.”
While the Delhi BJP did not issue an official response, Rakesh Sinha posted a video on X clarifying that he had formally shifted his vote from Delhi to his hometown, Manseerpur in Begusarai, Bihar.
“Baseless and morally contested allegations are being levelled against me by liars and morally degraded leaders of AAP and Congress,” Sinha said. “My name is only on Bihar’s electoral roll. It was earlier in Delhi’s roll, and I got it deleted through due legal procedure.”
Bharadwaj, however, presented what he described as “digital and photographic proof” of the alleged double voting, citing social media posts by the BJP leaders. He pointed to a verified Instagram post by Ojha that read: “Voted today with resolve for prosperous Buxar, empowered Bihar, and developed India.”
Calling it a “systemic subversion of democracy,” Bharadwaj urged citizens to raise their voice peacefully “through democratic and constitutional means.”
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh added, “This is the real face of Bihar’s SIR. BJP loyalists seem to have received an all-India permit to vote anywhere they want.”
The Election Commission of India has not yet commented on AAP’s allegations.
