Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has officially confirmed that he will appear in a key cameo role in the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The announcement has generated significant excitement among fans, marking a rare collaboration between two of Indian cinema’s biggest names.
Aamir Khan revealed that he immediately agreed to the role upon hearing that the film involved Rajinikanth, stating that he didn’t even wait to hear the full script. His participation in the project is a testament to the enduring popularity and respect that Rajinikanth commands across the Indian film industry.
According to industry sources, Aamir Khan’s role in Coolie is far from a typical blink-and-miss cameo. Instead, it is a high-intensity appearance during the film’s climax, reportedly lasting around 15 minutes. He will play a character named “Dahaa,” who is integral to the narrative and features in a dramatic face-off with Rajinikanth’s character.
This marks the first time in over three decades that Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth will share screen space. Their last on-screen appearance together was in the 1995 film Aatank Hi Aatank, which did not perform well commercially but remains a point of curiosity for fans.
Coolie is slated for a grand release on August 14, 2025, aligning with India’s Independence Day weekend. The film is one of the most anticipated pan-India releases of the year and is being produced on a massive budget estimated at ₹375 crore.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his work in action thrillers, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and a special appearance by Pooja Hegde. The movie also features a soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
