AISA President Neha Bora Released, CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke to Appear Before SEM Court at Noon
All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was released from preventive detention early Saturday, while Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke is scheduled to be produced before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) court at noon at Mandir Marg Police Station in New Delhi.
Both activists were taken into preventive custody ahead of the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest march at Connaught Place on Friday, which witnessed clashes between protesters and police personnel.
Bora was released after the formalities related to her detention under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act were completed.
Action was initiated against Dipke under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), following which he was arrested.
Delhi Police Served Notice on Dipke Before March
On Friday afternoon, Delhi Police served a notice on Dipke asking him to call off the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march scheduled for 5 pm at Central Park in Connaught Place.
A police officer visited the Karol Bagh residence of a Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader, where Dipke is staying, and handed him the notice prohibiting him from proceeding with the march.
Dipke acknowledged receiving the notice but refused to cancel the protest.
The march was organised to protest the arrest and imprisonment of CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, who were detained for allegedly entering the Jantar Mantar protest site without authorisation and waving the national flag.
‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ March Ends in Clashes
The protest descended into chaos on Friday as demonstrators and police personnel clashed near Gate No. 2 of Palika Bazaar in Connaught Place.
Police detained Dipke and Bora following the confrontation.
Protesters alleged that police personnel tore their national flags during the scuffles. They also questioned why some security personnel were not wearing nameplates.
The incident came amid heightened tensions surrounding protests against the detention of CJP leaders and demonstrations targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Dipke’s Court Appearance Expected at Noon
With Bora released, attention has shifted to Dipke’s scheduled appearance before the SEM court at Mandir Marg Police Station at noon on Saturday.
The case follows the police action taken ahead of the planned march, which authorities had asked organisers to cancel.
The developments have added to tensions between protesters and Delhi Police over demonstrations linked to the CJP leaders’ detention and the planned display of the national flag at Connaught Place.
