13 Civilians Injured In Saudi Arabia After Houthi Attacks; Alerts Issued Across Kingdom

Thirteen civilians were injured in Saudi Arabia after Yemen’s Houthi militia launched missile and drone attacks targeting civilian areas, authorities said Tuesday, as early warning alerts were issued for several cities.

The Iran-backed group targeted areas in Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif with ballistic missiles and drones on Monday.

The attacks caused minor to moderate injuries to 13 civilians and damaged seven houses and two vehicles, Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, said in a statement posted on social media early Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued a series of alerts for several cities in the country’s western and southern regions, including Abha, Jeddah, Jazan, Taif, Yanbu and AlUla.

“The Terrorist Houthi Militia continues its heinous and deliberate attacks on civilian objects and civilians in the Kingdom,” the Civil Defense said.

It added that the repeated attacks demonstrated what it described as the group’s “extremist ideology of escalation” and deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The coalition said its joint forces would respond “responsibly and firmly” to protect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, civilian infrastructure and people.

The latest attacks came a week after a Houthi assault injured more than 70 people, including women and children, in several Saudi towns and cities.

Saudi Arabia also temporarily shut down its East-West Pipeline on Friday after it was targeted in multiple drone attacks in the Riyadh and Madinah regions.

Gulf and Muslim organisations condemned the attacks on the pipeline and expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
