Aviation Firm Sues Nora Fatehi For ₹3 Crore Over ‘Toy Plane’ Remark

An aviation company has filed a ₹3 crore civil defamation suit against Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi before a Gandhinagar court, accusing her of making “derogatory and reckless” remarks about its chartered aircraft on social media.

What is the defamation case?

The suit has been filed by Dunes Aviation, which alleged that Fatehi recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year. In the videos, which she posted on Instagram, the actor reportedly described the aircraft as a “miniature”, “toy” and “Lego airplane”.

Dunes Aviation claimed that Fatehi’s comments, made to her more than 4.6 crore followers, caused significant reputational and commercial damage, including booking cancellations.

The suit, filed in April, alleged that the actor’s remarks were “reckless, irresponsible” and made without technical knowledge, verification or factual basis. The company claimed her posts resulted in a 15-20% decline in bookings and an increase in cancellations.

The company further stated that the aircraft was standard and appropriately sized for the Mumbai-Jaipur journey, and was fully DGCA-certified, airworthy and operating legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).

What has Dunes Aviation sought?

Dunes Aviation has sought ₹3 crore in damages from Fatehi, along with directions to remove social media content containing the alleged statements or references to the aircraft.

The company has also sought a public clarification from the actor.

The case is scheduled to be heard by Senior Civil Judge R Agarwal on September 25.
