Muscarello recently gave NFL fans a glimpse into the stark contrast between her weekend and weekday routines through a social media video.

While she performs as a Broncos cheerleader on game days, she works as an orthopedic nurse during the week, joining several professional cheerleaders who balance their careers in sports with jobs in healthcare.

“Sunday mornings vs. Monday mornings look a little different 👩🏽‍⚕️📣✨☕️,” she wrote on Instagram.

NFL Cheerleader Pay Under Scrutiny

Muscarello’s post once again put the pay of NFL cheerleaders in the spotlight. The issue has been debated for years, with the Associated Press reporting in 2015 that some NFL cheerleaders earned less than fast-food workers.

The controversy intensified in 2014 when a New York Jets cheerleader sued the franchise over an alleged hourly wage of $3.77.

The issue returned to public attention following the June 2024 release of Netflix’s documentary series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The show highlighted how members of the famous squad balance cheerleading with education, full-time jobs and other professional commitments.

Fans Demand Better Pay

Muscarello’s video sparked fresh discussion among fans, with many arguing that professional cheerleaders deserve higher compensation for their work.

One user wrote that cheerleaders work hard and should be paid enough, while another said that given the NFL’s enormous revenues, cheerleaders should receive better pay.

According to the New York Post, Denver Broncos cheerleaders are employed part-time and receive what the organisation describes as competitive wages. NFL cheerleaders are employed directly by individual franchises rather than by the league.

Beyond the pay debate, many fans applauded Muscarello for successfully balancing two demanding careers.
