Two killed, three injured in Toronto shooting; suspect on the run
Police launched a manhunt in Toronto on Saturday night after a gunman opened fire in a busy area lined with shops and restaurants, killing two people and injuring three others.
Authorities urged residents to avoid the area and follow police instructions, later confirming that the scene had been secured while the search for the suspect continued.
Local media reported the shooting occurred near a venue hosting a salsa festival, though officials have not confirmed whether the event was directly linked to the incident.
The shooting comes weeks after a deadly attack in Montreal, where two people, including a police officer, were killed before the suspect was fatally shot by law enforcement.
Earlier this year, a school shooting in the western mining town of Tumbler Ridge left eight people dead, including the gunwoman’s mother and half-brother, and injured 27 others before the attacker died by suicide.
