Patna Court Stays Arrest of Khan Sir in Coaching Centre Firing Case
A court in Patna has granted interim relief to educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, by staying his arrest in connection with a case linked to an alleged firing incident and vandalism at his coaching institute earlier this month.
The case stems from an incident on June 2 at Khan Global Studies near Musallahpur Haat in Patna, where shots were allegedly fired outside the institute and the premises were vandalised. A security guard was reportedly injured during the episode.
Patna police later named Khan Sir in an FIR, alongside two security guards who were arrested after a video surfaced allegedly showing them firing shots during the disturbance. The case was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
According to police, the firing occurred after a group of 15–20 people allegedly tore down posters and pelted stones at the coaching centre. The two guards were detained for allegedly firing in response to the attack.
Khan Sir’s lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, argued that the case against his client was motivated and intended to damage his reputation. He claimed Khan Sir was named in the FIR as a retaliatory measure after his staff filed a complaint against the director of a rival coaching institute.
The defence further maintained that the guards fired warning shots in the air for protection and that no one was injured by gunfire. The lawyer also alleged that Khan Sir’s name was added solely on the basis of disclosure statements and not on any direct evidence.
The controversy escalated after rival coaching operators accused Khan Sir of orchestrating the incident, a charge he has denied. Following the vandalism, large numbers of students gathered outside the institute in protest, prompting heightened security deployment in the area.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
