Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stuns in satin couture, crystal florals and flowing cape for second Cannes appearance

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is making every Cannes appearance count this year, and her second red-carpet outing has once again grabbed attention. The actor stepped out in a blush-pink couture gown by Sophie Couture, delivering a softer yet striking fashion statement at the festival.

She attended L’Oréal Paris’ annual Lights on Women’s Worth event, which honours emerging female filmmakers, alongside daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, who coordinated in a ruby-red gown paired with a matching cape.

Aishwarya’s ensemble featured a strapless corseted bodice with elegant Fortuny pleating and intricate Swarovski crystal floral detailing in rose gold, copper and deep mauve hues. The embellishments flowed from the bodice toward the hips, adding texture and depth to the silhouette.

The satin-silk crepe gown incorporated dramatic draping and asymmetric ruching around the waist and hips, creating a sculpted look before falling into a flowing floor-length skirt. A sheer chiffon cape and extended train added movement and flair without overpowering the design.

Known for her bold and dramatic Cannes fashion choices, Aishwarya opted for a different approach this time. Instead of volume-heavy styling, she embraced a more streamlined, body-contouring silhouette that brought a fresh, refined edge to her red-carpet appearance.

Keeping accessories minimal, she skipped a necklace and instead wore statement rings and subtle drop earrings, allowing the gown and cape to remain the focus.

Her beauty look echoed her first Cannes appearance this year, featuring voluminous Hollywood waves with a deep side part that highlighted soft auburn tones. Winged eyeliner, a matte base and a muted rose-pink lip completed the look, blending seamlessly with the gown’s pastel palette.

Earlier at the festival, Aishwarya had made her first appearance in a custom sapphire-blue Amit Aggarwal couture creation featuring a structured mermaid silhouette. The intricate outfit reportedly involved more than 1,500 hours of craftsmanship.

Reflecting on the collaboration, designer Amit Aggarwal said Aishwarya has always approached Cannes with a sense of individuality and evolution, with the aim this year being to create something that felt like more than just a garment.

Aishwarya is attending the Cannes Film Festival with daughter Aaradhya this year, marking her 24th appearance at the prestigious event.
