The passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle on April 12 left the music industry in shock, with tributes pouring in as her last rites were held on Monday.

In a recent interview, singer Talat Aziz recalled his final conversation with Bhosle, describing her as spirited and full of life despite being unwell. He shared that just days before his trip to Mauritius, Bhosle had video-called him, mentioning her health issues but reminiscing warmly about the past, including memories of Lata Mangeshkar.

Aziz said Bhosle had asked him to visit her after his return, but fate intervened. He later learned of her deteriorating condition and, soon after, her demise. Remembering her resilience, he said she was “young at heart” and even sang over the phone, asking him to judge her voice despite her illness.

Bhosle, 92, was hospitalised a day before her death due to cardiac and respiratory complications and passed away following multiple organ failure. Her funeral saw an outpouring of grief, with prominent figures including Sachin Tendulkar, Ranveer Singh, Riteish Deshmukh and Vicky Kaushal in attendance.

Political leaders such as Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray also paid their respects, as the iconic singer was given a ceremonial farewell in Mumbai.
