Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport, pitching it as a major boost to connectivity, economic growth, and regional development.

Sharing the stage with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Prime Minister said the airport would transform prospects across western Uttar Pradesh.

“Because of this, Noida International Airport, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Etawah, Bulandshahr, Faridabad and this entire region are going to benefit greatly,” Modi said.

He added that the project would create new opportunities for farmers, small and medium businesses, and the youth. “From here, aircraft will fly around the world, and it will become the symbol of the flight of developed Uttar Pradesh,” he said, congratulating the people of the state and calling the project a “magnificent airport.”

‘Viksit UP, Viksit Bharat’ Push

Linking the launch to a broader development agenda, Modi said the inauguration marked a new chapter in the “Viksit UP, Viksit Bharat” vision.

“The biggest state in the country has now become the state with the most international airports,” he said, adding that he felt personally connected to the project, having both laid its foundation stone and now inaugurated it.

Criticism of Previous Governments

The Prime Minister also targeted past administrations, saying the project had been delayed for years.

He noted that the airport proposal was cleared during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2003 but remained stalled under subsequent governments. According to Modi, the project gained momentum only after the BJP came to power at both the Centre and in the state.

Global Crisis and Fuel Concerns

Referring to ongoing tensions in West Asia, Modi said the government was taking steps to shield citizens and farmers from the impact of global uncertainties, including fluctuations in fuel prices.

“We are ensuring our farmers do not get burdened due to this crisis. India has continued its development journey even during this period,” he said.

Ceremonial Start

Ahead of the inauguration, a sacred artefact of Lord Buddha was presented to the Prime Minister.

The launch of Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region, while boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.
