Google CEO Sundar Pichai Arrives in India for AI Summit, Says ‘Nice to Be Back’
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has arrived in India for the India AI Impact Summit, where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on February 20. The India-born executive said it was “nice to be back” in the country, highlighting the warm reception he received.
“Nice to be back in India for the AI Impact Summit — a very warm welcome as always and the papers looked great too,” Pichai wrote in a post on X.
What is the India AI Impact Summit?
The India AI Impact Summit is a major international conference on artificial intelligence being held in New Delhi. The five-day event, which began on February 16 at Bharat Mandapam, has brought together global technology leaders, policymakers, researchers, and industry executives.
Organised by the Government of India through the IndiaAI Mission and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the summit focuses on advancing the responsible, inclusive, and practical deployment of AI technologies.

According to the official programme, Pichai will deliver his keynote address at 9:30 am on February 20.

In remarks ahead of the summit, Pichai underscored India’s potential in artificial intelligence and Google’s interest in supporting the country’s AI ambitions.
“India is one of the most dynamic countries in the world, and the scale of the opportunity it has with AI is immense. That excites me,” Pichai said.
He emphasised Google’s intention to act as a long-term partner, noting that the company’s role could span infrastructure, compute capacity, sustainable energy investments, open AI models, datasets, and research collaborations with local institutions.
“I believe India is going to have an extraordinary trajectory and opportunity with AI,” he said.
High-Profile Global Participation
The summit has featured an array of prominent speakers from across the global technology and business landscape, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Adobe chairman Shantanu Narayen, Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei, and AI researcher Yann LeCun.
