Fresh bomb threats trigger evacuations at New Delhi schools; students and teachers moved to safety

Several schools across New Delhi received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, prompting swift security checks by authorities, police said.

Teams from the Delhi Police, along with fire services and bomb disposal squads, were deployed to affected campuses to conduct anti-sabotage operations. This marks the second such incident reported in the national capital within a week.

According to officials, among the schools that reported threats were Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and The British School. Police said the initial alerts were received around 9:12 am, with additional schools later informing authorities of similar emails.

Senior officers indicated the messages were sent from an anonymous email ID. As a precaution, students were evacuated from school premises while thorough checks were carried out.

In a communication to parents, one school stated that a security threat had been received and confirmed that all students were safely evacuated, adding that classes would resume once the premises were declared secure.

Police said that no suspicious objects had been found so far, though search operations were ongoing.

The latest threats follow a series of hoax emails earlier this week. On February 9, more than 15 schools in Delhi reported bomb threats. Subsequent investigations determined those messages to be false alarms.

Authorities have also noted similar incidents in neighbouring regions, including schools in Chandigarh and Mohali, where multiple bomb threats were reported in recent days. Investigations into the origin of the emails are underway.
