Nifty, Sensex trade near day’s low as ICICI Bank, Adani Ports weigh

Equity markets in India were volatile on Friday, a day after logging their worst sell-off in a month amid US tariff fears.

As of 12 PM, the Nifty 50 was trading 0.53 per cent or 138.05 points down at 25,741.60, and the Sensex was trading 0.53 per cent or 449.04 points down at 83,732.20

Eternal, HCL Tech, Tech M, Asian Paints, Power Grid, BEL, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, SBI, and TCS were the only Sensex gainers today, advancing between 0.05 per cent and 2.5 per cent.

On the downside, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, NTPC, Ultratech Cement, ITC, Sun Pharma, and Kotak Bank were some of the losers, edging lower by up to 1 per cent.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index was trading flat, but the Nifty SmallCap index fell 0.50 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty Realty index declined 2.5 per cent, the Nifty Pharma fell 1 per cent, and the Nifty Private Bank index dropped 0.5 per cent.

On the upside, the Nifty IT index was the only gainer, up 0.3 per cent.
