Türkiye expects second phase of Gaza ceasefire to begin in early 2026

Türkiye expects the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement to begin in early 2026, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Monday, following talks with officials from the United States, Qatar and Egypt in Miami over the weekend.

Addressing a press conference in Damascus, Fidan said the discussions centred on hurdles delaying progress to the next phase of the deal. He added that a key priority was ensuring Gaza’s governance is transferred to a Palestinian-led authority.
