Sensex flat, Nifty tests 26k; Realty index up 1%, IT drag

Equity benchmark indices — BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty — were listless in trade on Tuesday amid lack of market moving triggers. Today is the monthly expiry of Nifty F&O contracts for the November series.

At 10 AM, the BSE Sensex index was at 85,011, up 110 points or 0.13 per cent. The Nifty50, on the other hand, was at 25,999, up 39 points or 0.15 per cent.

Power Grid, Infosys, M&M, Tech M, HCL Tech, HUL, Tata Motors PV, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, ITC, Sun Pharma, and NTPC were the top Sensex losers this morning, down up to 0.9 per cent.

On the contrary, BEL, Tata Steel, SBI, Axis Bank, Eternal, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, and Reliance Industries were the top gainers.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index staged a recovery to rise 0.24 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index added 0.08 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty IT, and FMCG indidces were the top losers on the NSE, falling 0.4 per cent each. The Nifty Auto index, too, fell 0.16 per cent.

On the higher side, the Nifty Realty index gained 1 per cent, and the Nifty Metal index added 0.9 per cent.
