Nifty tests 25,900; Metal index gains 1.5%; Realty 1%; VIX falls

Stock markets in India were gradually recovering, erasing morning losses, led by buying in heavyweights like ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, and Asian Paints.

The BSE Sensex index was at 84,556, higher by 89 points or 0.11 per cent, while the Nifty50 was at 25,898, rising 23 points or 0.09 per cent.

Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, BI, L&T, Ultratech Cement, and Sun Pharma were the top Sensex gainers, rising up to 4 per cent on the BSE.

On the flipside, Tata Motors CV, Eternal, Infosys, Tata Motors PV, HCL Tech, TCS, M&M, and Tech M were the top losers.

In the broader markets, on the contrary, the Nifty MidCap index added 0.21 per cent, and the Nifty SmallCap index 0.20 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty Metal, and Realty indices climbed 1.5 per cent and 1.1 per cent, respectively, followed by the Nifty Financial Services, Pharma, and PSU bank indices (up in the range of 0.3-0.4 per cent).

Q2 results today

Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors, LG Electronics India, Alkem Laboratories, Ipca Laboratories, National Securities Depository (NSDL), Voltas, Apollo Tyres, Bharat Dynamics, Jubilant FoodWorks, Samvardhana Motherson International, Muthoot Finance, and Orkla India are among the companies scheduled to announce their Q2FY26 earnings today.
