Fresh Video From Bengaluru Jail Sparks Outrage: Inmates Seen Drinking, Dancing, and Partying Behind Bars

A major controversy has erupted after another video surfaced from Bengaluru Central Jail, showing inmates — including those accused of terrorism and sexual assault — allegedly hosting lavish parties inside the prison. The footage, which follows an earlier clip showing inmates using mobile phones and watching television, has intensified scrutiny of prison authorities.

In the latest viral video, prisoners are seen pouring liquor into disposable glasses, with plates of cut fruits and fried peanuts neatly arranged on a table. Four miniature liquor bottles are visible, while some inmates can be seen dancing and cheering to the sound of clanging utensils, apparently celebrating inside their barracks.

Home Minister Orders Probe, Warns of “Strict Action”

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Sunday said he had taken serious note of the alleged irregularities and had sought a detailed report from ADGP (Prisons) B. Dayananda.

“I have asked him to submit a report. If it is not satisfactory, I will form a separate committee and take corrective measures. I will not tolerate this nonsense — enough is enough,” Parameshwara said.

He criticized prison authorities for citing a staff shortage as an excuse for lapses in oversight. “If the existing staff cannot perform their duties properly, that is unacceptable. If they are providing televisions, mobile phones, or liquor inside, then why should it even be called a jail?” he said.

The minister added that the government had already approved the installation of CCTV cameras and signal jammers across all prisons to prevent such breaches. “Not just terrorists — no inmate should have access to a mobile phone or any such facility. Otherwise, it ceases to be a jail,” he stated.

Internal Inquiry Underway

Following the uproar, prison authorities have launched an internal investigation to verify the authenticity of the videos and identify those responsible for the alleged security lapses. Officials said strict disciplinary action would be taken if staff members were found complicit.

The latest scandal has raised serious concerns about corruption and mismanagement inside Karnataka’s prisons, with opposition leaders demanding accountability from the Home Department and an overhaul of the state’s correctional system.
