Sensex drops 510 pts; Talking to stakeholders on MF charges, says Sebi chairman
The stock markets in India were trading with steep losses on Friday, in-line with the selling being witnessed in the Asia and US markets (overnight).
The BSE Sensex index was around 82,799, falling 512 points or 0.61 per cent, while the Nifty50 was at 25,377, down 133 points or 0.52 per cent.
Bharti Airte (down 4 per cent on block deal trade), HCL Tech, Wipro, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, TCS, Tata Consumer Products, and Adani Enterprises were the top losers on the Nifty today.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index slipped 0.59 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index shed 0.94 per cent.
Among sectors, the Nifty IT index declined 1.6 per cent, followed by the Nifty Realty index (1 per cent), and the Nifty Auto, and PSU Bank indices (0.9 per cent each). There were no sectoral indices in the positive zone.
IPOs today
In the mainboard IPO segment, the Pine Labs IPO opens for subscription today, while shares of Studds Accessories are set to make their D-Street debut. Meanwhile, the Groww IPO enters the final day of its subscription.
