Bihar Assembly Elections: Voting on November 6 and 11, Results on November 14

Voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases — on November 6 and November 11 — with results to be declared on November 14, the Election Commission announced.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), will release its election manifesto on Friday, with senior alliance leaders expected to attend the launch event.

Key Highlights

  • The NDA alliance comprises the BJP, JD(U), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

  • The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) — led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and including the Congress and CPI(ML), among others — released its manifesto on Tuesday, titled “Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran.”

    • It pledges to pass a law within 20 days of forming the government to ensure one government job per family,

    • Provide ₹2,500 per month financial assistance to women, and

    • Suspend implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

  • Tejashwi Yadav has been announced as the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate.

  • 121 constituencies will vote in the first phase, and 122 constituencies will go to polls in the second phase.
