‘Only One Person Could Have Forged the Will’: Karisma Kapoor’s Children Accuse Step-Mother Priya Sachdev, Say It ‘Demeans’ Sunjay Kapur

The Delhi High Court heard the high-profile estate dispute of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur on Monday, as his children with actor Karisma Kapoor, Samara and Kiaan, made serious allegations against their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur.

Children Accuse Priya Sachdev of Forgery

Samara and Kiaan have sued their father’s third wife, claiming that Priya forged Sunjay Kapur’s will to exclude them from his estate.

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the children, pointed out several errors in the will, calling them “blunders” that suggest the document was not prepared or read by Sunjay himself.

  • Kiaan’s name was spelled incorrectly multiple times.

  • Samara’s address was wrongly stated.

“He had a very good relationship with his children. How can he have written his daughter’s address wrong and misspelled his son’s name in multiple places in the will? This will demeans the late Sunjay Kapur. It is so casual,” Jethmalani said.

Step-Mother Likely Only Beneficiary

Karisma Kapoor is representing her children in the proceedings. The lawyer argued that only Priya Sachdev, as the sole beneficiary, could have forged the will to prevent any challenges to her inheritance.

“If this will is a forgery, then only one person could have forged it,” the counsel stated.

The court is scheduled to continue hearing the matter tomorrow.

Case Background

  • On October 9, Samara and Kiaan referred to Priya as a “Cinderella’s evil stepmother”, accusing her of greed in court.

  • On September 26, the court allowed Priya Kapur to file a list of assets in a sealed cover, instructing that details of the property dispute not be shared publicly.

  • Sunjay Kapur, head of Sona Comstar, passed away in London in June due to a heart attack. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003–2016 and later married Priya in 2017.

The legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate continues to unfold in the Delhi High Court, drawing attention due to the high-profile family involved.
