Ghaziabad Encounter: How Cops Tracked Down Disha Patani House Shooters

The Delhi Police Special Cell, along with the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana STF, shot dead two gangsters on Wednesday evening who were accused of opening fire outside actor Disha Patani’s Bareilly home last week.

The men — Ravinder of Rohtak and Arun of Sonepat, linked to the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang — were killed in an exchange of over a dozen rounds near Tronica City, Ghaziabad. Police said Ravinder was shot in the chest and Arun in the chest and neck; both succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The case stemmed from a September 12 incident, when two men on a motorbike fired multiple rounds outside Patani’s residence. Soon after, a social media account associated with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility.

How police tracked them
Investigators identified Ravinder from CCTV near the house, then used surveillance and crime databases to trace the duo’s movements across Bareilly and nearby districts. By September 16, teams confirmed the accused were in Ghaziabad and laid a trap.

At about 7:20 pm Wednesday, police intercepted their bike and ordered them to surrender. Instead, they allegedly opened fire, injuring four policemen. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding both men.

Why Patani’s home was targeted
According to the UP STF, the gang had been monitoring the actor’s residence for weeks in an extortion attempt. Ravinder was also wanted in a 2024 court firing case in Fatehabad and had been involved in a September 5 gang war in Bhiwani.

Police recovered a stolen motorbike, a Zigana pistol, and a Glock Gen 5 pistol from the scene.
