Two Terrorists Killed in Gurez Sector During Joint Army–Police Operation
Two terrorists were gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez sector of Bandipore district on Wednesday during a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police, launched after intelligence inputs indicated a possible infiltration attempt.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said alert troops spotted suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez, challenged the infiltrators, and retaliated effectively after they opened indiscriminate fire. “Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists. Operation is in progress,” the Corps posted on X.
The incident comes weeks after a soldier was killed on August 13 while foiling an infiltration bid in Uri sector of Baramulla district. Earlier, on July 30, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were eliminated in a gunfight in Poonch district under Operation ShivShakti, which the Army described as a major blow to Pakistan-backed groups attempting to push militants across the LoC.
Security forces also killed three militants linked to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in a separate encounter in Srinagar forests last month.
