Delhi Man Arrested for Repeatedly Raping 65-Year-Old Mother in Hauz Qazi
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in central Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother on two occasions earlier this month, police said on Saturday.
The victim, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, lodged a complaint on Friday, alleging that her son assaulted her after accusing her of having an extramarital affair decades ago.
According to the complaint, the woman lives with her husband, a retired government employee, the accused, and her younger daughter. The elder daughter is married and lives nearby.
Police said the family had returned from a religious pilgrimage on August 1, when the accused first assaulted his mother. On August 11, he allegedly locked her in a room and raped her, claiming he was “punishing” her for her past conduct. A second incident occurred on August 15, when he allegedly entered her room at night and assaulted her again.
The next day, the woman confided in her daughter, who convinced her to approach the police. Based on her written complaint, a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered, and the accused was arrested.
An investigation is underway, officials said.
